The Romans first produced concrete over 2000 years ago, using a very primitive mixture of small gravel and coarse sand mixed with hot lime and water. To reduce shrinkage they used horse hair much like we use polypropylene fibers today. Concrete today is a compound material made from sand, gravel and cement. Cement is a mixture of various minerals which, when water is added, hydrate and rapidly become hard, binding the sand and gravel into a solid mass. The elements that make up cement have been around for at least 12 million years, certainly a time-tested ingredient. Anchor Concrete president, Steve Martin, and his father started this company in 1980, with a plan to create and grow a successful business providing quality solutions with a straightforward, consistent product. Over the years, we at Anchor have explored various applications of concrete such as colored and acid stained surfaces, stamped patterns and aggregate surfaces. Anchor now offers creative, artistic solutions which inspire our customers to use their imaginations and allow them the satisfaction of unique, personalized results. Currently with over 53 team members in builder, commercial and retail divisions, we have the resources and technology to grow and provide superior customer service in this market place. All of our employees share the same innovative attitude and ideals that started this business over 28 years ago. |
